Cricket

Cricket has taken me to some good places and even better people. This is where I share match-day stories, tour notes, thoughts on professional tournaments, and my own opinions and predictions alongside how they actually played out.

The fourth edition of the SA20 delivered one of the most memorable finals yet, buzzing with energy, standout performances, and edge-of-your-seat cricket at Newlands. Sunrisers Eastern Cape clinched the title in dramatic fashion, while the season as a whole showcased big hits, brilliant bowling, and plenty of surprises. Beyond the final, our Ncakos316 Team of the Season highlights the standout players whose impact defined SA20 2026, from explosive batters to game-changing bowlers, giving fans a snapshot of the tournament’s best.

Three weeks out from the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, I laid out a group-by-group preview with my predictions for who’ll top the tables and make the semis, tipping India and Pakistan to dominate theirs, Australia and Sri Lanka to fight it out in Group B, England and Nepal surprising in Group C, and New Zealand running riot in Group D before backing them to lift the trophy.

Thinking ahead to the big year in cricket, I laid out my top five predictions for 2026 — from Zimbabwe pulling off a series win in Pakistan and Nepal reaching a T20 World Cup semi-final to South Africa crashing out early in the T20s and then dominating Tests against Australia and England, with New Zealand also set to take a Test series in England.

It's been a bumper year for Test cricket. India, England and Australia all played 5 match series against each other, Zimbabwe played a match in England for the first time since 2003, the West Indies were bowled out for 27 against Australia, Wiaan Mulder scored 367* but opted to not chase 400 and the World Test Championship was decided in a tense game at Lord's. There have been some incredible performances with both bat and ball this year and, as I have already done for ODI and T20I cricket, I will now honor those performances here.

A Chiang Mai trip that mixed sightseeing with match days: temples, markets, Muay Thai, and a borderline irresponsible amount of khao soi, followed by playing in the Gymkhana Club Cricket Sixes tournament with Hong Kong Scottish, a tour that was less about results and more about the experience.
